Meet Mitch
Mitch started in construction, building sports fields and landscapes, then moved into estimating (pricing jobs) before landing in design. Along the way he’s had a hand in 80+ projects across Australia’s east coast and New Zealand, from big commercial builds to family backyards.
That mix is what makes Prism different. He’s built projects, priced them and designed them, so he knows what things cost, how they actually get built and where jobs tend to go sideways.
What that means for you
A design you can actually afford to build. Mitch keeps build costs in mind from the very first sketch, so the quotes don’t come as a shock.
Quotes you can trust. He’s spent years doing the pricing himself, so he knows what’s fair and can spot a quote that’s inflated or missing something.
A garden that turns out the way it was drawn. He speaks the same language as the landscapers, so nothing gets lost between the plan and the finished garden.
He’s big on native plants, natural materials and spaces that suit the style of your home, and he sticks with you the whole way, from the first chat to the last plant in the ground.
What we do
Whether you’re building a new home, renovating or reworking an established garden, we can help with the whole project or just the part you need.
Discovery & Brief
Landscape Design
Once you’ve approved your proposal, we visit your site, listen to how you want to live outdoors and turn it into a clear brief everyone can work from.
A concept, a review with you, then detailed plans presented in full and ready to price and build.
A handover meeting before work starts, then fortnightly meetings on site with you and the construction team, upholding the design and answering any questions.
Contractor Sourcing & Budget Management
Construction Support
With an industry insider reviewing every quote, you get the right contractor at a fair price, and spending stays in line with the plan.

For people who value the outdoors as much as the indoors.
Who we work with
We work with homeowners who want their outdoor space done properly, whatever stage they’re at.
Building a new home. You want the garden planned alongside the house, not squeezed in at the end.
Renovating. You’re living through a build and need someone to take the outdoor space off your plate.
Reworking an established garden. The yard doesn’t suit how you live now, and you want it to.
On a rural or coastal property. You have a bigger or more exposed site and need a plan that suits it.
Just after advice. You don’t need a full design, just clear guidance from someone who knows the industry.
Most garden problems are really decision problems.
Projects rarely go wrong because of the wrong plant or paving. They go wrong because the big decisions weren’t made early enough. We started Prism Landscapes to change that.
The Prism Process
Three stages, in the right order, built on one principle: life first, project second, design third.

Across Melbourne and regional Victoria. We’ve delivered projects across Australia, so get in touch if you’re further afield.
-
As early as possible. Our waitlist varies through the year, and we’ll let you know the timing on your discovery call. For new builds, ideally at the same time your architect, builder or interior designer is engaged. A cohesive home and landscape are planned at the same time, so we like to be in touch with you and the project team from the start. For existing garden renovations, again, as early as possible to allow for lead times and planning.

The discovery call is a free 15-minute call to understand your project and budget, and it’s the first step for every client. The consultation call is an optional one-hour session where we give you tailored advice on your specific situation, whether that’s layout, materials, budget, staging or choosing contractors.

Yes. A designed garden is an investment in your home, like any other renovation, and it pays off in three ways. Function: the space works for how you live, with room to entertain, play and relax, and everything placed where it makes sense. Aesthetics: it ties in with the architecture of your home and suits the site, so it feels considered rather than pieced together. Property value: a well-designed garden adds real value to your home. The design is also the tool that keeps everyone working toward the same result. Without it, contractors interpret things differently and decisions get made on site, which almost always costs more than the design.
-
So we can design around it. Knowing your budget range early on lets us prioritise what matters, stage the work if needed and avoid designing something that was never realistic.
-
No. For some people, guidance is all they need, and a one-hour consultation call covers it. Others want a full design and support through the build. We’ll suggest what fits after the discovery call.
-
Two to three weeks from site visit to concept stage, depending on size and complexity.

Builder recommendations can be great, but can be based on the builder’s priorities. We help you assess any contractor against what your project needs: relevant experience, a clear understanding of the plans, a detailed quote and good communication. We like to get multiple quotes in order to get the best value for our clients.
-
Yes. We can step in at any stage to review plans, advise on site or help get things back on track.
-
Yes. On new builds and renovations we work alongside your architect and builder so the garden is coordinated with the house from the start.

Every project is different. After your discovery call, we’ll send you a proposal based on what you need from us.
